Not to be rude or anything, but if you have a fear of getting hit, boxing is probably not the sport for you.

No one likes to get hit(Anyone sane anyways), and working on your defense can help. But to be fearful of it can play a serious mind game.

Face your fear, that you are going to get hit and that's all there is to it, or perhaps pick up another sport... Or help others train.

Train more and ask the other guys to go easy on you. The best advice i had when i was a beginner was:" Look him in the eyes, don't back up when you get hit and keep those damn hands up." That's all you need to know if you're a beginner. Then you'll be able to use the skills you'll learn.

Stamina or power ain't **** if you can't take a punch:

SKILLS PAY THE BILLS. Remember this.

You just have to remember, in boxing you are going to get hit. Bottom line.

A good idea to build confidence would be to practice just defence with a partner (preferably an experienced one who can work with you and control himself) throwing light, slow punches at you. Over a few weeks he can build up the intensity, to the point where he is throwing real shots at you and you are comfortable with getting them thrown at you and defending them.

                spar with malignaggi

in all seriousness, you just need too relax and try too develop your defensive skills before taking on too much

Yeah, try to spar with someone who will go easy on you and hits you with punches that won't really hurt you. So you can get used to getting hit with light punches in first place and work on avoiding natural reactions like closing your eyes, curling up, etc and work on your fear of real impact punches later on.

I am afraid that's the only way and if that won't work, maybe boxing really isn't for you, no offence meant at all.
Cause like others already said, there is absolutely no way you will get away without getting hit in boxing. Unless you are Pacquiao or Mayweather (and even they get their bruises in sparring and fights), there'll always be someone better than you and you have to adapt and learn to deal with it, that's the beauty of the sport.

thats a very bad response, not to be offensive but you shouldnt make the kid think this is something he cant overcome, because he can.

being scared to get hit isnt uncommon when your new to the game, if you want to be a fighter badly enough you will overcome it. alot of top fighters were scared when they first started, its all about heart.

spar alot, mainly with guys who hold back on their punches. its all mental, in time you will get over it. also id advice you to every night right before you go to sleep, close you eyes and imagine being in the ring. slowly go thru everything from the moment you arrive at the gym in your head. once you get to the sparring imagine yourself nervous, but dealing with it. then imagine a sparring session in a positive way, but include getting hit and overcoming it.

when it happens for real just know your gonna get hit, and that you are gonna deal with it. life is hard, everything isnt gonna come to you easily. as far as sports go you picked the hardest one there is, just ask yourself how badly you want it.
