also think about when they throw that jab to counter with a straight to the body. most people who jab alot have their head well protected so make em pay.

also a good old overhand right will get you over their jab and shoulder, and on to you opponents chin.

the key to beating a jabber is headmovement. and its important to use your own jab, even if you cant outjab him it will disrupt his rhytm and make his jab less effective.

the right hand to the body should be a hook, not a straight. step to the right and throw it outside the elbow.

also just to mention, if you want the overhand right u need to get low. that way he will jab down and leave his ching open. if hes throwing the jab straight out his chin will be tucked behind his shoulder. again, headmovement is the key to beating someone with a good jab.

If you are fighting a great jabber take away the jab. Parry it with your left and come over with a right, overhand right over his jab, parry it with your right and come over with a left hook, slip and counter with your own jab to the body etc

again these responses are all awesome

Yea man i think it's all style preference. I would prefer stepping off out side the jab and hooking the body. Some people like the straight on top.

i remember an example of the Jabber getting Outjabbed. Shane Mosley vs Miguel Cotto. Great fight in terms of strategy

Maybe im misunderstanding you but isnt it risky to parry a jab with ur own left hand because it would leave ur left face wide open for a quick righthand?

Mosley is fast but he never really had a great jab. His jab is quick but he throws it with no force behind it, I believe Emmanuel Steward explained it as a flipper once if my memory is correct. Try watching Norton vs. Ali I if you want to see two guys with excellent jabs try to go to work. If you are fighting someone who throws the jab continously remember to always keep your head moving the slightest of movements makes landing his jab much harder.

A good video on countering the left jab for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uelw3miy_ig
