First off, I know fighters who have been boxing since a extrenly young age, but weren't any good. Most of the time it dosent matter what age you start boxing.......
Lawrence Clay Bay didnt take up boxing until the age of 25, and he made the olympics.
Ron Lyle didnt take up the sport until his mid 20's, and was captian of the USA boxing amature team.
Sergio Martinez current WBC 154 champion didnt take up boxing until the age of 20, and went to the world amature championships.
Rocky Marciano didnt take up boxing until the age of 23.
Dwight Qawi was 25.
I can name plenty more to......
Jose Torres (18), George Foreman (17) and Ray Mercer (23) are other examples. =]
