  • guys help please...

Hi.. I just turned 24 like last week. I've always wanted to box but never did.

    Im 5'7 1/2" and I weigh about 250lbs. I know... im a big fat **** hahaha.

I want to box in the USA boxing league... can it be done?

Can I lose that much weight and still be effective?...

I want to box in the 140's or 50's. My main concern is the weight loss. And I want to lose weight before I even go to the gym because I don't want them to not take me seriously.

    Any tips?

There is a lot of condition you can do on your own to get started on your way to become a boxer, youre not too young to start, theres guys in my gym in thier early thirtys with only a few amature fights. Its a healthy life style choice that will make you feel better about yourself and feel healthier. If you want to be in better condition for them to take you seriously when you say you wanan fight. Start eating healthy, clean up your diet you can start losing weight. You can start running every day and jump roping when you feel ready, Also doing stuff like push ups, sit up, and chin ups too. I wouldnt reccomend any bag work you dont want to do anything that will make you start devoloping bad habits. Good luck!

Yeah id say clean up your diet first and just really hit cardio hard - mass amounts of skipping and running should help you.
Its easy to eat healthy - i pretty much stick to only vegetables fruits and lean meats - only beverages i drink are water and protein shakes really.

cut back tons and sweat a hell of a lot. If you really want to, you can do it. Each time you are about to cheat..ask your self..this cake or boxing?

Man how did you even get that big though.

You can still make something of it.

              1. clean up your diet. No white bread, no candy , no soda, no fatty meats, no fried foods, drink only water (lots), low fat dairy, don't eat after 7:30pm etc etc

              2. Start exercising 5-6 days a week. Start with slow jogging for as long as you can and then begin to take up the pace and distance. Or If you are so unfit you can't even lightly jog for more than 10 or so minutes, try and walk for 5 mins, run for 5 walk for 5 etc Also do as many pushups and sit ups/crunches as you can 5-6 days a week, try doing them in sets of 10 or 20 and do as many sets as you can

Follow that religiously for about 4-6 weeks. If you do all that properly I reckon you could drop about 25+ lbs in that timeframe. Then after 4-6 weeks you will be fitter, lighter, stronger, and probably ready to get to a boxing gym and start learning how to fight. Good luck

                    Hey thanks guys =]

Yea, I can run... I may be bigg but im not to the point where I can't run or jump rope.

Currently my routine has been running 2 miles every morning and then resting a few hours then going to the fitness gym to do some extreme cycling (bike riding) classes.

Im glad you guys think I can still get into it. Honestly, I was a bit discouraged considering all the weight I have to lose.

As for one of you guys that asked me how I got this big... umm idk. To be honest, I got as big as 300lbs. (297lb)... then I lost weight and got down to 231... I stopped working out and slowly started gaining weight again.

Anyways, I really wanna box and I really want this to happen! Thanks a heap fellas! =]
