Hey folks, I am rather new to this. I tried to post on the Amateur Boxing Sub-Reddit but they automatically deleted my thread. So I live and work out of Queens, NY. My local Boxing gyms are BUA, Church Street Boxing LIC, and the Cave Boxing Club. Church Street would be most convenient. However, a Reddit post claims that Church Street Boxing changed their coaching method, and do not teach Right Hooks to beginners anymore, and also simplified their combos. So, can anyone suggest a gym in Queens by the R/M trains?

Depends on what you're looking for. Church Street is a great location and will be able to give you a good workout. In terms of becoming a better competitive boxer, Rockaway Ropes in Far Rockaway is the most prolific gym in the borough but it's a serious distance away from that area. Coach Kenyatta has unbeaten pro Donte Layne and a bunch of other very good boxers. There's also Woodside Boxing off of Roosevelt Ave., they show up at all the major tournaments.
