I think any activity is an excellent way to keep fit. Including on foot. For knee problems and at a respectable age, it is best to walk

Yeah people look down on walking but at a good pace, and especially uphill it's good exercise that isn't too hard on your body.. if you're overweight or elderly, then it's perfect.

It all depends on what you want to achieve with exercise. If you want to lose weight, it's not enough. To lose weight by walking, you must eat very little and walk briskly for five hours. Walking is for me the best form of exercise, i do plenty of mountain walking every weekend and depending on the time some weekdays too, i live in the Yorkshire Dales in the UK and i have plenty of mountains on my doorstep...Citizen Koba
