  • Should I be a Southpaw?

I’m considering getting more involved in boxing as a way to stay in shape, but also would like to be able to hold my own sparring. I see many people saying that if your right handed you should be an orthodox fighter. Because of having the stronger fist behind the other. I don’t see much conversation on the legs however.

I’ve had knee surgery when I was a kid and I didn’t go to physical therapy as advised. My physician said I was fine without it being I was so young. As I got older, I noticed that my right leg is stronger than my left. I’m working to get improved strength in the left. But from a boxing standpoint. Would it better for me to be a southpaw due to being able to push off this leg quicker? For better control moving and pivoting around the ring?

I think the simplest and better solution would be to work your legs till both are strong. Box jumps, wind sprints, lunges, burpees, whatever you need to do to have two strong legs.
