You see this spill over into pro wrestling too. Ric Flair talks about all the squats that Billy Robinson would have new recruits do. Robinson trained in catch-as-catch-can wrestling in Wigan, England. Same as Karl Gotch.

Seems pretty obvious that this vegan/vegetarian culture must have known something about building useful muscle and strength.
So obvious you've put forth 0 Hindu names.

Would they mean anything to you unless you were knowledgeable in wrestling history?

It would be like name dropping Jack Slack to the average person.

      Chandgi Ram.

Bodybuilding and strongmen competitions are niche activities that are in no way the be all and end all when it comes to strength and muscle.
I’ve read up and researched the Great Gama. Most revered of all Indian wrestlers. Great physique for his time. I’m sure his technique was another lever also. They did a lot of body weight exercise. Thousands of reps a day. Huge amount of calories consumed in dairy. I also check in on Sumo now and then also. There’s a lot of physically muscular Yokozuna’s comparatively to just pure weight. There’s a bodybuilder in ever country more jacked then we are. ( pros excluded ) But im just backing up your sentiment. People have been getting strong and fit all over the globe and over history. Plus a lb weighs the same everywhere even if it’s recorded differently in symbol. I think physical strength attempts and records is something that brings everyone together. It’s relatable. It’s more human based than race or nationality. We all want to see that record broken regardless of where it comes from.

Much better shape than WWE's Yokozuna, that's for sure.

He was a great athlete for his size though, like most Pacific Islanders. I heard yoko went to a fat camp and put on weight, thats not a joke. I read an article that one of the pacific island rugby teams ( can’t remember which ) went to England to do a nutrition and conditioning course with the lions. There was a curfew and everything. Still the islanders kept sneaking out and getting fried chicken. They weren’t losing any weight. I come from a rugby family. I love the islanders. Obviously they are a quite isolated people compared to the rest of the world, so to talk about their athleticism would probably get you in trouble these days. They move their mass like nobody else though. I’ll never be as cautious staring down a huge bodybuilder compared to an islanders who weighs the same. Remember Jonah Lomu? Countless others. Even in mma they send their punches like no other. I had the captain of the NZ under 19 team billet with me once. Built like a statue, and the politest class act you’d ever meet.

According to Jim Ross, Yoko gained weight in fat camp because he was sneaking out in the middle of the night and buying buckets of turkey legs from some fast food place. His favorite meal was turkey legs with tons of mayo.

The only type of meat that you should be substituting for beef (outside of fish/seafood) is wild game. Stuff like Elk, Bison, etc. Beef is probably the best mass-produced meat you can get at the grocery store, and there aren't too many good substitutes (meat, not protein). Chicken sucks. Turkey sucks. Deli meats as a whole suck. Pork is ok if prepared right. Otherwise you're better off sticking with beef/fish and game if you can find a good butcher.

Bison burgers are great, I eat them often.

Oh man that sounds so good. I’ve taken to putting garlic infused miracle whip on a lot of things. At least miracle whip is nowhere near as fatty as true mayo. I like it on pizza. Well heck it works on anything. I’m assuming his where deep fried with the skin on. I honestly would like to see a full twelve hour video on someone’s day that is able to maintain a 500lb+ pound physique. Just to see exactly what they ate and how much. I know there’s different levels of metabolism but calories in calories out truly does work. So many people assume they are eating a certain amount but can be way off. That’s the same for people trying to gain weight and muscle. When I was young I never had to count calories to get in shape, it was easy, course that’s youth. Even if you have a four pack, and are good at assuming your body fat %, when you crunch the numbers you realize that there’s pounds and pounds of fat on you.
