  • Why coach spending so much valuable time on strength and conditioning during group sessions??

why is all of the gyms exept of my original team ( which my coach decided to close couple of monthes ago) , spend 30 minutes from a 1:30 hour on a group training on a silly cardio and fitness , making houndreds of crunches and push up until you fail ?!?

Then only after that we began the technical part of the session .
I never got why do they spent such a vulnerable amount of time on a things that i can doing in my free time at home !!
My opinion is that is something that is not making you a bettet fighter - specially that is done before the technical part of the training - you become tired and cant learn anything .
Can someone explain me something logically behind thid attitude???

Second thing - why all gyms start their group session at 20:30 p.m and end the training at 22:00 .
Mature people need to sleep 8 hours per day. It Most of the mature people here in israel wake up for work in 5:30 .
It seems that some coaches here are living in lala land. They dont have any concious .
My old muay team start the session at 18 pm with oppertunity to stay to double session for another hour which mean i spent 2:15 hours per session that i spend only on technique and sparring - no another gyms exist here.

Because of this trainers i dont know what to do , i was very in a very momentoum of 3 years i sacrified to the sport and now because of the coaches here , they are paving my way to retire it so much sad . I dont know what to do with my life . They prevent me to prevail.

it's sad but i don't have any choice beside to retire and i hope for a miracle

    have a nive day

You'll have to explain what's happening at your gym better. Give me your schedule Monday through Friday. From when you walk in the gym until you leave, what do you do?

          Thanks.

I experienced a similar thing here at the only gym close by that is now closed. Was all about fitness and HIIT and circuit training and I just thought "When do we get to learn how to box or train any boxing techniques?" The place was so overpriced too. Could do that **** at literally any gym or at home... I just stopped going because it was lame and pretty clear what their priority was.

Well i'll start with my old gym routine
Sunday : start the group class at 18:15 .
              Stretching for 7-5 minutes.
ping pong kicking / shoulder touching / body blows sparring for 5 minutes.

then put gears and doing techniques .
the coach take one student for instance , present a technique , then dividing to pairs.

each student drilling the technique at least 20+ in a row , replace roles independly whenever you got tired.

then drilling another technique with the same principles

after that we move to one one attacking another in defence , with an emphasis on what we learned in the session

              Then , sparring 6+ rounds.

Finish with independly 100 crunches .

Then the coach allowed me to stay for double class
that we done the same things. For another 1 and half hour.

I was started the group session at 18:15 and end at 20:45 .

doing the same thing wendsday ,with addition of a wisdom speech of the coach who talked a lot of philosophy , military history , and mental functioning.

              technique and sparring only

At the new gym i joined beside a huge ego , and hostility treatment i get for the new coach.

                Sunday 20:30-22:00

the routine is exusted warm up little stretching,
And doing an exhausting HIT workouts jumping rope , push up and planks to failure

we wearing gear only after 35-40 minutes. - at all of the stage , the coach up and come from studio to his office speaking with kids and parents from previous kids class - sad to see classmates competes on the coach attention , thinks that if they'll crawl and doing non stop push ups make then a better fighter

Then we drilling cardio on heavy bag for another then minutes.

then we moved to technique .
which we divide to pairs .
the drilling we practice very quickly in a ' ping pong' style- one me one you we repeat it maximum 15 times the technique and moving for another technique.

approxamitly 5 variation of technique and very quickly.

then 5 round approxamitly of sparring

and little bit of stretching and abs workout.

same thing on tuesday and thursday.

without any oppertunity for staying for double classes.

didn't mentioned the last hours for a mature person who need to wake up in 5:30 am..
