Basically, as someone said earlier in the thread, its a myth. The reason you feel a burn at the start of your abs, is because this is where muscles attaches. To get those lower abs to show, you need to lose the excess fat that is covering them.

Or you geneticly cannot get them.

By the way if that is you in the photo then I would say you are over 10% bf, probably around 11-12%, go to 8% and you will see those lower abs.
      that's Miguel Cotto

I have 15%bf, your right I do need to go down a bit more.

Though the abs are only one muscle if your not going through their complete range of motion your only going to be mainly working one section. still though even if you just do crunches your working you lower abs. This being said i would reccomend that you start off any ab exercise with the lower abs like leg raises then i like to work the obleques i then do crunches and finish off with full sit ups hands above my head till i sit up then hands to toes and back down again.

this way i work my lower abs till they feel it then i can work my obleques but im still using my lower abs so i can still feel it, then i work my upper abs but im still using my lower abs so i can feel it, then i work the whole muscle as one and everthing gets sore after that.

Thats a great idea, im going to start doing that from now on becuase i also feel that im not working my lower abs even though i know the abs are one muscle in total. Good idea man and thanks

u want that beach look? because ur average training wil make u strong enough. not sure why u need to see them and how that relates to boxing.

u can check out a bodybuilding forum if u just want good looking abs. but the actual looks have noting to do with boxing.

              just saying,

although im sure it has been said

I am not sure. if you look at photos of Frank Zane for example it appears he only has a defined 4 pack not a 6 pack.

                  or even Arnie here
