What is the training situation like, are there group classes, or is it one-on-one training?

Is the $75 a month the only possibility, or are there other plans for people that will be making it in less?
Since it's the summer there aren't as many people going, but usually the trainer has us jump rope for about 30 minutes, work the bag for about 6-8 rounds with a partner, and then some conditioning or individual speed bag work. The trainer tries to watch over as many of his fighters as he can and gives individual tips as he sees fit. If you're the only one in the gym, you'll get one-on-one training.

I don't know about the financial plans. Come in and talk to the trainer to see what can be done.

      Sounds good.

How long in your experience does it take for a beginner to get a good enough grasp of the the basic techniques(footwork, punches, defense, etc...), using the equipment(bag, speed bag, etc...) to keep up with the rest of the class?

Probably around 4-6 months. Maybe shorter/longer.

          I can handle that.

When is technical instruction covered in the course of class/training, for instance, could you give me an idea of what my first 4-6 months will be like?

Thank you so much once again for all of the insight and information!

Your first few weeks/months you'll just be either shadowboxing or working on the heavy bag in front of the trainer who will constantly critique your technique. When he feels you are ready, he will put you in to spar and will critique you inside the ring. It all goes from there.
