Who do u think is right?
      your new trainer is correct.

I used to spar alot with this light hw. He could hit pretty good, but once I figured just to get inside his range I would really devastate him on the inside I'm 6'4", he was about 6'7" no bull**** this guy was a basketball playing monster, he just wanted to try boxing I guess...him and his friends would always come in my gym and train and they trained for a few months there before he sparred me the first time, I went easy on him...let him develop and train, I ran with him and showed him what my coach showed me......he was just weaker than me, I was like 245lbs, he weighed like 175. One time, after probably what was our best spar, we went a good 3 rounds and him, me and my coach, and the whole team were all hanging out in the weight room of the gym. this guy named eddie, a mexican used car dealer I told about the gym to come watch me spar, told john, the guy i sparred, ' man, it's okay, this **** happens when you spar heavyweights' ...the dude quit coming around the gym...its not my fault he was hitting me pretty hard, its just when a big guy gets hit hard and returns fire, your new coach is on point...it aint good for you in the long run, that was the last time I ever saw ol' john in the ring again.

after that last spar, my jaw was pretty sore, he caught me some good shots. but john, looked like a humanoid walrus, both cheeks welping out and a bloody nose.

they both have points, but i have found sparring bigger guys makes you tougher and more aware in the ring, but just follow what your new trainer says...

im 112lbs and last year when i weighed like 100lbs i would spar guys who weighed as much as 165lbs....and it made me tough, when i fought guys my size i could push them around and their punches felt like absolutely nothing (which did give me the tendency to abandon defence on occasion and just walk through the punches lol but obviously thats ****** and i dont do that anymore)

so yeah sparring big guys has a lot of benefits but just do what your trainer says, best not to argue with him

he tell me if i keep sparr big guys i will not get learned from coz i will always backaway and cover from them, i will not confident on offense.

            i'm 5'7 fight @ 152lbs; walking weight between: 148-157lbs

I spar bigger people who out-weigh me by 20-30 pounds. And i spar smaller people about 20-25lbs lighter than me.

The most consistent sparring partners i got weight around 160-170lbs

IMO, as long as you both know how to "work" then i don't think it's a big deal if you spar bigger or smaller people. It's the nutheads who think it's a street brawl and can't box are the ones you might wanna be wary about.

^^ yes some are nuts like some beginer got me black eye bleeding in nose and mouth, some are not allow to sparing anyone anymore coz they dont control so they kinda butthurt and left.

although i don't follow my advice (i'm about 155llb's and i spar with everyobne from 140lb women (which i don't hit) thru to heavyweights), i don't think it's best to spar much bigger guys.

if you were into grappling or wrestling i think it would be great practise to train with bigger guys, but boxing is unique because of the head trauma, and you should take some precautions because of that.

being 115 lbs, what could you possibly gain by sparring a guy over 200lbs? Its not going to help your eyes with your range, its not going to help you with him throwing so slow compared to the little guys, its not going to help for anything. Go work a heavybag and youll get the same out of it as working with the big guy except there will never be a chance of him putting alittle too much into a shot.................Rockin'
