The most common aches and pains in our beloved sport of boxing are usually in the hands, wrists and shoulders. But not me, when I use to be a competitive amateur boxer and my workouts were more intense, my elbows hurt all the time, usually whenever I'd throw the hooks. Has anyone had or have this problem?
The pain usually occurs when I made impact with the bag, I don't recall it hurting during sparring though, maybe during mitts it would hurt too. But, hitting the bag became literally a pain.
It doesn't hurt anymore even when I box, but, it was just weird, because like I said earlier, everyone talks about wrist and hand pain and here I am with my elbows. I wonder if what I was experiencing is what they call tennis elbow.
Can anyone shed some light on this.
Where exactly on the elbow does it hurt. Does it hurt on the side of the little finger or the side of the thumb? What happens to the pain when you bend your elbow? And when you straighten it?
