  • Finally my short sparring video!

    Hey guys Im happy to present you my short sparring video!

    Actually my trainer doesnt call it sparring he calls it studying

    Im the one with the blue headgear and gloves and blackshirt

    My opponent is my trainer/coach and he is a former boxer so He goes a little easy on me

    Here guys please give me some constructive comments and tell me what to do to improve. My stamine is not good yet thats why I dont tend to throw lots of punches. That was a 3 minute round however the one who took the video didnt get to video all of it

      well the footage is a little grainy but from what i saw:

      Your a southpaw, and you were dropping your left hand as you threw your right jab, your hands/elbows need to be a lot tighter and you need to bring your hands back to your face after you punch

      you were moving back flat footed or on your heels, kinda awkwardly, and sorta crossing your feet, this leaves you off balance and if your coach was hitting you hard you would have been knocked off balance

      but there were some good points, you covered up alright when he attacked, always remember to look at your opponent through your gloves when covering

      and you threw different punches, not just straights the whole time

      so yeah a few things to work on but not a bad effort, keep training man, how long you been at it?

          no problem, and what i mean by making your hands/elbows tighter is bringing them in closer to your body when they arent punching, you should feel your elbows lightly touching your ribs and your hands up at your cheekbones

          you arent too bad for a guy only at it for one month, keep it up

              i watched the second vid and yeah its pretty much all the same points i made about the first one man

              also try and put a bit more snap into your shots, throw them with full speed and proper technique everytime

                tend to look down some times? use your right shoulder more to block other persons lefts south paw vs south paw. if you keep your left hand tighter to your jaw bone its allready where it needs to be for jabs plus its there to block and parry rights. elbows in tighter you can block the body with out lowering your guard. when your going to look down think to your self and make an effort to come out of the flurrys before he lets off. you know how to slip right? just bow from your waist no leg movement if the punch is from the right bow to the right if its from the left bow to the left just bow into the punch and it should slip right by your head you can side step now or just step into them if you want to get on the inside.

                    Thanks for the feedback guys. My main disadvantage against him is the stamina. There are a lot of times when I know I can catch him and do some damage but I just cant punch anymore.

                    @Kostya
                    Yeah ill try to put more snap on my punches but mainly the reason why my punches lost it snap was because of fatigue

                    @Ylem
                    Youre right thats my problem I tend to look down when met by a flurry of punches.
                    I also have a problem with slipping because his hands are too fast and sometimes his right is not a jab but rather a hook like right

                    @vein
                    Yeah ill try to meet him with punches but he is just too fast for me
