Jack Dempsey - baked potatoe, steak, salad, cheesecake, coffee. That's retirement but it doesn't surprise me because.......

Sonny Liston - Steak or two, baked potato, salad, cheesecake, tomato ****tail.

George Foreman - credited success to cheeseburgers and ice cream. Was seen in commercials eating chickens, pizza, and doritos as well.

Mike Tyson - supposedly ate nothing but steak, pasta, and orange juice for a number of years early on. Haven't had this confirmed. Also supposedly stopped eating steak before at least one bad career turn. Also haven't had this confirmed. Also supposedly loved captain crunch.

Michael Jordan - Steak and Potatoes before every game. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Harry Greb - loved soda, especially ginger ale.

Muhammad Ali - was known to eat cheeseburgers on occasion. Stopped eating beef, eating fish instead to supposedly heal arthritis, found he lost energy and switched back to beef. Tried drinking alcohol the night before a fight after hearing Joe Namath had success after partying, had trouble in the fight and switched to imperial cola.

Ray Robinson - known to drink blood, either goat or beef, which I've heard functions as crude steroid.

Joe Louis - steaks, lots of vegetables. Don't remember what else. Remember he and ray robinson used to sneak ice cream despite advice from trainers.

Gene Tunney - steaks, lots of ice cream. Probably other stuff, can't remember.

Oscar de la hoya - reasonable diet before hiring a nutritionist, completely idiotic after. The whole nutritionists diet was online awhile back with oscar claiming it made him feel ten years younger. Had lots of organic bull****, also salmon instead of meat I think.

Bernard Hopkins - claimed to be a vegan for a long time. However, he also knew he was starving himself to make the middleweight limit. He's naturally much bigger, so I wouldn't use him as support for a vegan diet. I've heard him say he eats salmon, someone also claimed they saw him buy buffalo at the supermarket.

Fedor - says he pretty much eats anything. Ice cream, pizza, whatever.

Randy Couture - says he cuts out dairy to cut weight right before a fight. Sounds kind of ******ed. If it's useful during training, why eliminate it before the fight? I think it's a vanity move, especially for a heavyweight.

Notice any trends? Pretty much universal beef and potatoes, other than that some minor trends.

Red meat has alot of creatine in it. Id imagine that blood from animals would be more like very pure and natural creatine then a steroid.

The creatine is pretty much all destroyed in the heat process however IIRC.

I doubt most of them had such a limited diet though. I'm sure there was lots of fruit and veg and other things thrown in there. Even us mere mortals benefit from a varied diet that gives us lots of different things, so it would certainly benefit an athlete.

I'm sure there was supplements involved there, too. Certainly by the time Tyson was fighting anyway. You'd have to be very naive to believe what most people say.

fair enough but fruits and veggies aren't going to make a significant difference they're mostly micronutrients and fiber.

Also it's my understanding that george gainford did in fact have robinson drink blood which means louis may have done it as well.

They obviously have to be eaten in large quan****** [for serious athletes], but if they are, they are invaluable. For example, I'm pretty sure thyme has more iron in it than almost anything else. All fruits and vegetables are loaded with antioxidants of course. I'm no expert on what is right and wrong for boxing, but in general terms some of those diets don't look too good. At any rate, fruit and veg shouldn't be underestimated because it's not looked upon as manly.
