You're right, you're not an expert. Massive quan****** of fruits and veggies aren't going to do anything but help you ****. If you want iron, red meat is the way to go, not thyme. Fruits/veggies aren't looked at as manly because they don't have significant macronutrients. And antioxidants are complete and total horse****.

Iron in small amounts is all you need to much can lead to heart problems and cancer since the only way to remove it is through leeching though women have their own special way to remove iron monthly so they dont have to worry

Anybody remember the tough Lennox Lewis opponent Zeljko Mavrovic? He was apparently a vegetarian. Although I'm by no means saying that's the way to go either. But obviously he didn't need big steaks to fight. Last time I checked this was a forum for discussion, not pseudo-nutritionists who've probably read-up on a few things and now think they know it all.
His bar is red I see, so other people have seen that he's a clown too I imagine. The Internet is a very good tool for information, but the problem is that everybody is now an 'expert' and in some forums such as this one it's hard to have any sort of mature discussion.

I just noticed you made a thread trying to expose some ''myths'', huh.
''I'll throw out a few -
"eating a 'low fat' diet is healthy." - fact is, you need 15% fat. Just the way it goes.
"if you want to get in shape, eat less, exercise more." - this is a fatal combination. The more you train, the more you need to eat. If you're going to eat less, you might as well not train.
"red meat is unhealthy." - bull****. Every great fighter I know of ate or eats red meat. It's one of the most nutritious foods in the world.
"you should abstain from sex before a fight." - eat, sleep, ****, fight. There are some things you can't tell me not to do. I agree that staying out late could be a problem.
"soda is very bad for you." - I don't buy it. Don't have science to back it up, but I think it's bs. Some people say soda doesn't hydrate you, that is DEFINITELY bs.''
A low fat diet is healthly. A diet containing no fat or very little would be unhealthy.
No one I've heard who is the slighest bit educated has said eat less and exercise more. What they usually say is eat more healthily and exercise more.
''A team of international scientists have at last delivered their long-awaited verdict on red meat, after a definitive study of eating habits.
The recommendation comes after the study of the eating habits of half a million people came to the conclusion that beef, lamb, pork, veal and their processed varieties such as ham and bacon, increase the risk of bowel cancer.
The study, found that the risks of eating red meat were less in people who ate a lot of fibre from vegetables, fruit and wholegrain cereals. Eating any sort of fish on a regular basis, had a protective effect, reducing the bowel cancer risk by 30% over those who ate fish less than once a week.'' http://www.news-medical.net/news/2005/06/15/11026.aspx
Red meat is probably ok during a fighter's career, but it does not appear to be healthy in the long run. You only have to look at the likes of Japan to realise which diets are the most healthy, as they have very long life expectancies.
''Don't have science to back it up''. You don't have very much by the looks of it. You little brat.Last edited by paul750; 05-26-2009, 11:13 AM.
