I've been working out regularly, hitting the heavy bag, burpees, all types of push-ups, yadda-yadda.

On days I do a good intense workout, at night its a different kind of hunger where I need to be sated, and want some kind of healthy food, and eating some spare veggies ain't going to cut it. So I usually end up eating some (natural) peanut butter or something and being unsatisfied, and then usually end up eating some of the bad stuff anyway.

If I don't workout, at night I can gorge on food, especially carbs and sugar foods.

Anyone have any advice? Any healthy filling snack food anyone recommends? I want to get in better shape, and drop a few pounds. I'm 31, and weigh 179 lbs. I used be able to get rid of weight easily, and be lean and mean, now like the day I got into my 30s it got harder.
You need advice on how not to eat? your 31 and you dont have the control over yourself to just not do it? You dont need advice you need a babysitter.

At 9pm shadowbox hard for 15 minutes, getting exercise helps supress hunger.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I'll avoid the pills and smokes though, that honestly doesn't make a lick of sense to me...I'll try the light exercise before bed and protein.

The trick is not to have crap in the house! You cant eat what you don't have. Make healthy choices at the supermarket. I somethimes find that late night food cravings can be cured with a pint of herbal tea. (but that's just me)

Well the way i always saw it was, if the body is hungry it needs food. It is WHAT you eat that makes the difference on the scale. I have lost a lot of weight and i eat at night. Casein protien is good to take a bit before bed so are lighter fruits like oranges, those go right through you. Think for a minute people recomend that you eat 6 small meals a day to keep your metabolisim up, when you starve yourself your metab will slow way down. Why would the night be any different? I think im like you i could eat my own body weight before bed and still be hungry, it sucks and i have no idea why, just try somthing light and push through it.

The best thing I could say is when you start getting that craving, drink a very tall glass of cold water (or even two). The more water you drink the less hungry you will be and your craving should go away. Green tea at night (decaf) is also good. I drink water and green tea throughout the evening if I am trying to stave off the cravings.

i eat a lot of cottage cheese with a little bit of pastry or something sweet.

fills me up and gets me my caseine protein for sleep
