Can definitely see Mike Tyson's style but you're kinda slow. No explosiveness and you stick your chin very high up in the air at times.

Hey, guys. I'm new to the site, but I've been a boxing fan all my life. I would really like to get into boxing seriously. I live in the Bronx, NY (about1 1/2 - 2 hours from Catskill, NY) and I was wondering if it's worth driving up that far north for a boxing gym? I can't afford any gyms around here, I have no job, I'm just a student. I want to get involved this summer, so I am trying to make a fast decision. Any help would be appreciated! How's the gym like up there by the way? By the way, great video, you're awesome!

You got some good gyms there in the bronx

Juan Laporte's gym sounds like money.
Dude fought Salvador Sanchez, Wilfredo Gomez, and Julio Cesar Chavez.

I imagine you'll probably spend similar money traveling 2 hours each way to Catskill as you would just dishing out the money for a local gym.

well theres many gyms in the city to choose from but im not sure if you can find ones that can fit your budget. were free uphere but like already mentioned will it be cheaper with traveling expenses.

The cheapest I've seen so far was the Morris Park gym, which is about 60 a month, plus 10 a day for a trainer. It looks like a good gym, but parking is hard to find over there. I also run into a lot of those boxing for "fitness" places. That Juan Laporte gym sounds like a good idea. I'll give them a call down there and check out their rates. I'll check around some more, make a couple of more phone calls and ask around. Hopefully something will come up. NYC is an expensive place I'll estimate how much it would cost me traveling vs going to a local gym.

                Thanks,
                Amir

                    eehhh

Thanks. No luck. I've searched for a while. They really charge an arm and a leg up here in the bronx for a boxing gym. I'll take a look around some more and drive around the area again Monday. If I got time, I'll pass by Catskill to check it out. Thanks again guys.

Just saw the clip on youtube where teddy Atlas made the comments. Seems to me he was bashing the whole style.

So Atlas doesn't teach this style anymore?
