    does it really work before sparring or fighting? what are some tricks you do to loosen up to avoid tension and nervousness.

    aahhh, ok. i'll divulge one secret.

    dont really stretch before workout or sparring. but, do warm up!

    stretch after practice.

      I have to stretch before. I always do 15 minutes of skipping and three or four rounds of shadow boxing before sparring, but if I don't stretch my calfs and hips start burning.

      Anyways, I don't think the OP is talking about stretching and warming up, I think he's more talking about stuff like visualization exercises, prayer etc before sparring/fights so you aren't so tense and you can relax.

      Let us now specifically what you mean "loosening up" and we can help more.

        yeah, i sort of knew what he meant. but i was just replying to his last question.

        the fear that people have in fighting, boxing, or sparring comes from being hit mostly. if u are not afraid of being hit, u will definitely be more relaxed.

        i like to be physically ready before i spar. u will notice a lot of boxers do this also - when they tap their own faces with their gloves as an example. i have noticed boxers from oscar dlh to vitali klitschko do this. doing that sort of preps you for the action.
