  • Boxing news training magazine .David Haye fitness article

Training for Enzo Maccirinelli , Haye's coach Adam Booth decided to put him through a fitness test while in Miami .
It would consist of sprinting 100metres 100times , each time under 15 seconds and with a 30second recovery . Booth monitored Haye's heartrate throughout and after 80 sprints saw the boxers pulse registering 167bpm . This wasn't high enough ,so Booth reduced Haye's recovery to 15 seconds for the last 20 sprints . Haye completed them ,the last in 13.5 seconds . In total Haye effectively sprinted 10km , though with a total of 30 minutes rest , but it's still an incredible feat of athleticism and surely proves the world cruiserweight champion doesn't have a stamina problem as some have feared .

Not a chance I could do that. I'd be ****ed.

To say that entirely disproves his stamina doubts is a little far; long distance and multiple explosive bursts are two completely different energy system, utilising different metabolic pathways and recovery systems. So yeah, while it is an incredible feat that suits his style to a tee, its not like he could engage in a 12 round tooth and nail war.

david not really the type of guy who will get into a tooth and nail war, hes just not that type of fighter and he knows it.

what he does do is alter the volume of his punching, he simply does what he normally does and does it more often - see the mormeck fight after round 5. alot of ppl do think he has a stamina problem but since the carl thompson fight he has worked hard and eradciated that problem.

hes said beforehand that after round 6 he steps it up a gear and throws alot more, it wouldn't surprise me it that was true. looking at him he does look really well conditioned.

I love Haye. he is man meat personified.

          But....

No-one in the world could achieve that feat. No chance.

                    QFT

Pro sprinters don't even sprint anything close to that.

Do you have any idea how hard a toll that would take on the body?

What a ignorant post by OP. Sprinting that much will either wear out the muscles so much or cause some kind of injury.
