Roadwork is a must...I try to run early in the morning (Although, I really hate running during the winter) so therefore I do my roadwork on the treadmills during December. But, I really find it BORING to run inside...I like running where the air is 'fresh'. lol..
Also try to incorporate HIIT sprints (High Intensity Interval Sprints). I use a Heart Rate monitor and it's always fun to try to stay in zone..
Lastly, always always always warm up (Dynamic stretches before and Static Stretches afterwards) and wear the proper equipment. It's amazing how wearing the right shoes can make a whole world of difference on your joints and feet. Two words: New Balance.
Anyways, if you ever decide to push yourself when you run...make sure not to go too hard.. it sucks having really sore legs or feet.
Cheers!
