are skins the same thing as under armour wear. They are both compression clothes.

Not all of their products are compression clothes, but the running line will be very similar. I don't like that they do not have info about the compressions benefits, and only highlight that their products keep the cold out. Seems like it was not designed for the same purpose. I heard their stuff is bad quality and have seen someone with a top that went a bit loose around the neck and crumply.

No I haven't personally tried anything else, if I find something that works I generally stick with it, plus while i'm studying my funds don't really allow me to experiment with exercise equipment.

Here's a good article which basically sums up Lactic acid and how to improve your lactic threshold, so give it a read.

I use to get it when I first came back from the op table and it was a pain in the arse but I train through the pain.

Salty, have you used other compression outifts before Skins? How do Skins compare to other brands? I like all the hype on their website but for some reason I am more inclined to trust Saucony, Asics, Nike as they are specialist running brands.
Oh and one more thing, skins invented the technology, the other brands pretty much just copied their lead.

I thought running pants were around for ages? I did not know they invented it. Maybe all that stuff in the video is true! Nike copying any technology must be pretty good though.

Thanks for your feedback. I might get the skins instead if they have a good price on them at the local football and running store. The tracksters are so much cheaper though! The storekeeper says that Skins are the best because they are designed for different bodyshapes. Thanks for article info too!

I just showed that article to my physio and she said that it is true, but you still need skins to support muscles and get rid of the excess lactic left over afterwards. She said the guy is right but is generally aiming his research towars endurance athletes such as 10k plus runners and marathon people.

Boxing is shorter and more intense and the lactic can slow you down in later rounds. My physio has worked with several football clubs and before you ask, yes she is a tomboy with a fit body and dog features just like all top physios! She played football herself and says anyone who runs more than 3 miles a day should use Skins.

My mate the footballer (who has played in Premiership) said it has given him a second chance at his career and that he hasn't pulled his hamstring yet. They both swear by it so I'm gonna give it a go and let everyone know what my verdict is in a few weeks.

The slow down in your muscles is caused by a drop in the pH level, however lactic acid is not a strong enough acid to cause the H+ build up to cause the pH drop in muscles. It's the predecessor pyruvic acid which causes the pain. In a way it is related to lactic acid though as too much lactate in the muscles doesn't allow for pyruvate to form into lactate. The good thing is you can train up your lactate shuttle, which greatly improves recovery times and can source your second wind.

Good luck with the skins mate, i'm sure you will like them.

TBH I don't get much trouble with lactic acid, but would like the added support fo muscles. If it helps with recovery then it is a bonus! It is good to hear someone else in boxing has tested them first before I splash out. I'm going to get some new footy boots, new boxing boots and new trainers too so Skins will dent my pocket a bit more but health is more important than welath. Forget the crunch!

Good moto, I bought mine after tearing my hamstring. Haven't had a problem with it since, so yeah let us know how they go for you.

I will do mate. Hope they live up to the billing! My mate had the same problem with his hamstring and gave a similar testimonial.
