if you box then you'd be better off with boxing techniques, not some kung fu rubbish. theres a reason you never hear of a pro or decent level amatuer boxer using this type of stuff - it doesnt work in a boxing ring.Comment

I know my trainer was heavily into things like knife/stick fighting martial arts as well as boxing, which is where the main influence of the style he teaches comes from. Basically he teaches us long range and inside counters as the bulk of our strategy. But many of the arts who rely on kicking too much is not really helpful for boxing simply due to the different stance which is required to execute kicks properly.Comment

Well I train at a boxing gym also and my martial arts training has helped, I have adapted some moves to boxing and have improved my sparring alot. A few experienced boxers are often impressed by some of my moves and speed and ask me to teach them some of them. Its about adaption, becoming the soft Ying to the hard yang, and vice versa depending on the situation.
Most effective is my five fists technique I learned in Korea. It involves throwing dummy punches, obstructing vision, confusion of the opponent so two fists effectively become five. Difficult to pull off, but I have done it in sparring and have had boxers saying to me they had no idea where the punches come from.Comment

I also hear Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny etc learnt a bit of kung fu while training, it apparently improved there chi making them throw more punches at a consitently fast speed with power... I mean wtf lol, anyone can talk the walk.Comment
