heavy weights will make you crave protein and will make you fat hungry bulky and slow. Light weights are are ok but a shortcut for bums who can't do the hard work of calisthenics.

I've done plenty. Old school trainers have known this for a long time and no amount of pseudo science will change it. heavy weights make it hard for you to make weight too, and make people crave protein AND carbs as the muscles become starved and need to recover. They recover BIGGER, which is obvious. Bigger means bulkier and slower and above the weight. It is pretty ****ing obvious. Even qualified personal trainers admit it.

'm pretty sure up to a certain point, weight lifting won't slow u down as lon as your weightlifting to built strength rather than bulk up. so if your aiming to be a boxer i recon strength training should be ok, just keep sparring, hitting the speed bags, shadowboxing and if u ever feel like your slowing down, just stop.
and i've seen some trainers who would actually have their students stop weight lifting two weeks b4 a fight, they reckon that would be enough time for them to return to their "normally" fast speed.

And if you build mass, then work on speed and explosiveness, what's the problem? You can still be fast.

it is kinda obvious that heavy weights will make you slow. i never said anything abou tlight weights. People who pump iron alot are always soft as ****. We had a scrap in Sunday League and a 9 stone guy put down a meathead with just energy and speed it was funny. he was not a trained fighter either. I jabbed a nizel and bust his nose so he ran away saying he didn't want to fight. I hunted him down! We lost the match but won the brawl, hurray!
