He's been watching the Hajime No Ippo cartoon where Takamura does exactly that before a fight...

I second those guys who said everyone could try boxing. No need to consider what the elite have to do to make it, when you've never been to the gym yet. That's like saying you have to consider what the riders of the Tour de France go through just because you're thinking about riding a bike because it looks fun.

Boxing to be the best is hard, but so is every other sport out there. I have talented 12 year old boys that you might be reading about on this site in a few years. Do you think I give them or their parents that speech when they come to the gym? OF course not, they're having fun and laying the groundwork to becoming serious athletes in the years to come at the same time.

If your a new comer you will not be running at 4:30 in the moring. Most pros don't even do that.

because the other guys, that the newcomer spars with, won't be doing that. They won't be waking up early, living, breathing, eating, sleeping, and ****ting boxing, like someone who takes it seriously SHOULD be doing. There are only two outcomes of boxing, the first is brain damage, no matter how minor; the second, is fight experience for both guys...the harder a new guy works, the less brain damage he takes come time for him to pass his trials, it's not hard to figure out.....

Take Kostya's advice, only train as hard as possible with a tournament coming up...Then end up being second rate, like this guy probably is (or will be.)

Hey, Kostya...How many fights have you had? None? Never sparred either? Sit the **** down, you're just an armchair fan with a big mouth.

I agree with everything you've ever posted until this...

...'Having fun' easily can translate into 'Unwanted brain damage'...boxing is serious, especially for children who's brains are still in the developmental process...if my kids ever box, they damn well better be taking it seriously, otherwise I will prohibit it...

You see these guys who take their kids to the gym, young kids, 10 yrs old, have em train and have some fun with it for a month or two, then spar a few times, then have 1 fight and quit, because the kid didn't take it as serious as his opponent did, (or the kid didn't have a proper reason for wanting to be a boxer in the first place, or was just being propelled by a boxing crazed father to be a boxer, but I guess it worked for Floyd, BUT he was in a family of champions so he always saw the rewards, from the ****in cradle....

Toney said it best, you play football, baseball, basketball...You don't play boxing
