    16+ gloves

Its just funny to me how everybody on this forum supposely use 16,18, **** 20 ounce gloves. I train wit 14 and spar wit 16, 16 ounce gloves are detrimental for use on the heavy bag for your technique unless ur a 200 pound heavyweight. Its not the weight but how 16 ounce gloves are made that make them really hard to use on the heavy bag because you cant really make a fist like you can with 14 ounce gloves. Maybe its me but the people that claim they live and die by 16,18, and 20 pound gloves are posers and are trying to make themselves seem macho....or maybe its just me idk. somebody give me some insight on this issue

The whole sparring with 18oz gloves because it'll increase handspeed thing is way overrated. I know it works in video games, but in real life the effect is more in your head than anything else. The bigger gloves are made for better protection of both your hands, and your opponent/partner.

Well, that depends on weight class, and how much/hard you spar. Getting your face cut up or messing up your hands is not something you want to go looking for.

Yea thats true because som people overdue it sparring. I spar with 16's usually. tried 18's but it was riduculous maybe because im a welterweight?

totally agree with the whole 18-24oz glove ****. The glove make is way to big for most of the lighter weights hands & would just give bad punching habbits. I use everlast weighted gloves though, find them to be alright - their 12oz with the weights dont know what weight they total to but they absolulty kill in sprints

yeah i use 10 oz to spar as i spar with bigger guys, so its a bit fairer, but on the odd occasion i spar a guy my size i use 16's. and of course 10's in fights

yeah 18 and over is ****in ridiculous... what about that idiot danny stash who said he sparred a guy with 26 oz gloves wtf thats crazy **** lol how would that help you might as well spar with pillows on

That's not called fair, that's called dangerous and I would have serious problems with a trainer letting his guys spar people so much larger than him that he feels they should use 10 oz gloves for anything but a fight, that's ridiculous.
