    I walked in a gym by myself, didn't know anybody, didn't know how to box and wasn't exactly a sign of male strength and now i'm comfortable. End of the day, just join, through my experience is far more intimidating in your mind than in reality, everyone i've met has been nice and respectful. I mean don't get me wrong there are aspects of it which are exactly what you expect and there is a certain air of toughness about it, but, if you really can't do something they're not going to embarrass or harrass you so long as you've really tried but when I say tried I don't mean given it a go, I mean given it your best and then some and then some more. For example, they wont keep shouting at you to do more pushups if when you try you fail, slump and try again, fail, slump because people do have physical limits, it's not all about your mind.

    Tips for joining though;

    Be humble. If you think you can fight, you can't. I so rarely see people act manly in a boxing gym, there's no need to, you're in a boxing gym, that kind means you don't have to.

    Boxing on the bags and in the ring are different sports as far as i'm concerned. Go when you're comfortable enough to push yourself there, if you wait until you're not scared to, you wont go in for ages. You have to take that leap and if you're not scared, even a little bit, to, then don't go in because chances are you have some weird ass delusions about what you're going to do which, chances are if you're still new to it, wont materialise. I'm still quite new to the sport but i've had some ring experience and each time I think about what I should do, remember the headmovement, rememeber the stance, guard up, do this combo, do that combo and well, most of it doesn't happen when I think, it either happens at the spur of the moment or doesn't.
