  • Local gym!

I really want to start boxing and have just been sparing with my mates for a couple of weeks now outside his house. I want to go to my local gym to improve myself but I am worried that I will look crap and ****** because I have just started and people will just mock me. I am only 16 and want to start now because I think I could improve quite a lot. Has any one else had this or can help me? Try and be nice lol.
    Thanks.

I'm a girl and when I first started I went around a whole lot of gyms that train fighters and said 'i can't box but i want a trainer'... I copped lots of crap but just think of it as emotional training for when you're in the ring. Just find someone who knows technique and listen to them, even if they are asking you to do things that **** you. Technique and fitness will get you there... so your mates might tell you things that aren't right. Listen to the people who know. It might take a while, but you'll get there.

dude dont hold back cos u think ur gonna get a load of stick. a good boxer should have a good head on him (and this applies to other athletes too of course) Just go for it no1 will judge u cos at the end of the day we all had to start somewhere.

The trainers wont take the piss theyll help u and dont be threatened by how the talk to u when ur sparrin most trainers love to push their fighters n see what they are made of. Just go in with tonnes of confidence n give it ur all, dont be threatened by criticism cos u'll just show it in lack of drive when u come upto a sparring partner or punch bag.

just think '**** it' dude and listen ONLY to the trainers n try ur best if u wanna succeed and box (on whatever level)

im 15 and started a few months ago. you just have to go in there, be open-minded, be dedicated and get your head down and do it. you wont have problems with people mocking if you dont go in there acting like you know what to do.
                    good luck
