Before I began to train for boxing, I was active in powerlifting. I weighed around 145 and could bench well over 300. Mind you, I've not touched a weight since around last December. My weight still hovers at around 145, and I believe I could probably still do 290, 300 tops.

People should also say if they are benching with a free bar or a machine. Because on a machine benching is much much easier. Max i tried on a bar was 310 and i did 4 reps. On a machine i can easily bench 450 pounds and do 2 sets of 10.

Yeah it's already been established that we are not talking about machines!

It is easier but not THAT much easier.

The smith machine just stabilises your arms so all of your power goes into pushing the bar up instead of controling the direction of the bar aswell. I don't see how you can lift an extra 140lbs and do an extra 16 reps just because you're on the machine.
