Who can bench press twice their body weight?

  • Who can bench press twice their body weight?

    I weigh 71 kilos, just over 11 stone and I bench press 130 kilos (3-4 reps). My aim is to be able to bench press twice my body weight with 3-4 reps by the this autumn. I like to be as powerful as I can for my weight, I find this a great challenge and I was curious as to how many boxers can bench twice their body weight, or more?!!!

    I cant bench press 680 pounds.

      No boxer should be able to do bench their own weight. Never mind double it. Unless they are way to musclebound. They would have too much weight and no cardio at all.

        Mike Tyson benched pressed 200 when he was 13-14.

        Anyways i can bench press a toyota pickup truck.

          I run 6 km 4-5 times a week and I do a lot of cycling to and from training. I don't weigh too much I'm **** on 11 stone. Is this abnormal then?

            Depends on your build. Most pro fighters run that far daily and still are fairly musclebound but would bench much. It depends do ya box? Or just want to know who can bench their weight twice?

              I don't box competitively but I train at Earlfield ABC in London (where Frank Bruno came from) when I can but the training session times clashes with my work times. I'm going to uni in September and there is a Boxing club there where I aim to start seriously!

                I dont weight lift because of boxing but i did do it in school last year for the full school year. I weighed about 135 and i maxed out benching 205 putting it up just once. I could curl a lot that was my strong point. Lifting made my arms feel heavy for boxing thought and i gelt tight and unrelaxed so i gave it up.

                  Have you had any fights yet? I would think you have too much weight added on on muscle. If ya can do 5 rounds on a bag. Each a song long. You will eb fit enough. But if ya struggling I would suggest more cardio playa.

                    you would have to train a lot to pull it off. powerlifting has weightclasses and some of the lower classes could do it and still be able to box. mass and strength are not completely correlated. but i'll be honest, pick one or the other. a double bodyweight benchpress is pretty large, and not congruent with boxing training. if you really want to take boxing seriously workin for that bench is basically counter productive.
