    When i am sparring and really taking care of business I box gaurd up..... When I am trying different ways to fight just to learn its garud down...

            LOL yes you are very right on that its alot smarter to keep that left hand up, my coach tells me that over and over again cause I have a habit to drop it, I end up paying for it...

                      Yea I always kept my hands up right next to my face but that shouldn't cause you to not see your opponent throw a punch. Just keep moving. You should be able to watch their body language for signs a punch is coming. Especially a hook.

                      jadagod is probably right with the stance thing. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to see you opponents punch. Make sure chin is down and stance is correct.
