  • What are you weaknesses?

So, i've noticed alot of people who box are quite humble, like Ted D. Kluck said, they have nothing to prove, it's everyone around the boxers who are acting all crazy and trying to look tough. Like Tyson said about Cus D'Mateo, he's always say "that was good but..." and help him, whilst everyone else would just be like "wow, you're the best!". So, I thought here maybe we could list some reoccuring problems we all have and others who faced the same could say how they got around it.

    Here's what i've noticed about me;

I lose my stance as soon as i'm thrown into a fight position. You put me on a bag and i'll do it all, as soon as i've got to move fast, move backwards, forwards, around, etc etc. I find myself just standing sideways and often taking my weight off my back leg.

I don't tend to block a shot, I rather dodge or absorb. Works well with protecting me, but problem is sometimes it ****ing stings, like today I took a nice shot to my forearm.

I'm sure theres a **** load more but I don't want to start with some monster of a list haha, plus, other things I do like forget to properly transfer my weight are things that will come with practice, not through learning.

Well, based on what my trainer tells me: 1) I lean forward too much with my jab and that puts me at a disadvantage when I want to throw more punches after that initial jab.
    2) I also don't really block shots - mostly weave and get out of the way.
    3) Although I've started to improve on this, sometimes I find myself with my head down when taking a lot of punches at once.
    4) I often get my feet too far apart when I spar, which really restricts my movement.

I think one of my biggest weaknesses personally is thinking too much about what I have to do when I step out into the ring. Instead of just fighting and going with the flow, I often find myself overanalyzing a lot of my mistakes and I feel almost afraid to disappoint my trainer.

Yeah, 1 and 2 for me, I will just dip my shoulder sometimes and let them him that, then go to counter.

          I have trouble shifting direction.

I can skip rope like a mother****er, my wheels are good when I'm on the bag -- hell, I swing dance. But in the ring, against a live opponent, I move like a Clydesdale. Once I commit to moving, I have a hell of a time uncommitting. This means that when I anticipate, I'm This fear of anticipation leads to its opposite -- hesitation -- which is just as painful if not moreso.

To counter this, I fight close -- I'm told fighting me is like "a fistfight in a phone booth" -- and try to keep some kind of contact with my opponent: a shoulder, a glove on his glove, anything so that I can feel him move. Dancer's instincts, I guess; if I can feel which way he's going, I'm much more fluid than if I'm watching him. It's almost like I can see him better when I can't see him at all.

well, I havent sparred enough to know what all my problems are but I definitely have to work on footwork. I keep closing my eyes too sometimes. Of course I have to work on everything but those stand out.

My weakness is probably being crowded in the ring. I tend to struggle against volume punchers as I like to fight on the outside and use my reach.

handspeed. power is not an issue for me, i punch harder than most my weight, its just i cant get consecutive punches happening that quick

I eat many many punches going to the inside, lol but i get there at all costs.
I tend to punch myself out i have good condition, but sometimes i connect a good shot and then go berserk and punch myself out.
I dont really know how to clinch in a proper way.

Ermm.. i am sure i have many more things but thats what i can think about now

need to work on my defense more when im up against the ropes and opponont is letting his hands go.

Doesnt happen alot because I try to always keep the fight in the center of the ring and use my range..

But this happens alot when I spar the heavyweights at the gym..
