Big muscles do not make you slow. Ask ANY strength coach on the planet this quesion and he will tell you otherwise. Only old school boxing coachs and pepole who know jack **** would say this. Look at the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. etc. etc. GO check out some olympic lifting videos, adn tell me those guys are slow.
"being big and muscular in physique is more suited to a sport like wrestling"
Physique has NOTHING to do with any of it. Someone can be big and slow, or big and extremely fast like a Ray Lewis or Brain Urlacher. If you are worried about your physique, maybe YOU should be the bodybuilder.
Look at Holyfiend, Miranda or Andre Berto. Those guys have tons of muscles and are far from slow.

Really? I thought boxing was about hitting people? Seems to me you can be lean, MUSCULAR(not slim) and have power.
Go pick up a book, maybe you wont be so ****** after you read it.

oh shut up. ill bet your not even a competitive boxer. berto and miranda are slow for a start. i didnt mean boxing was all about being lean, i meant physique wise, you should aim to be lean and strong in boxing. olynpic lifters might be fast at lifting, but get those guys to throw a punch and i bet they would be slow.

You're right, im not a competitive boxer. But that has nothing to do with it. Berto is absolutley not slow. He might not be Zab Judah fast, but how could you say he was slow?
"you should aim to be lean and strong in boxing"
You mean like this OLYMPIC lifter?
"olynpic lifters might be fast at lifting, but get those guys to throw a punch and i bet they would be slow. "
Olympic lifters have been charted as having some of the highest vertical jumps of any athletes around. This is DIRECTLY related to speed, power, and explosiveness. If you think othewise maybe you need to read two books.

yeah but thats a ****** comparison were talking about people the size of david who has much more muscle mass than that weight lifter and andre berto put together!!!
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/photo/...196086&cat=500
his photos are there to see!! were not talkin about your average weight lifter this guy is massive in turn making him slower than me/ your usual boxer. Being skinny doesnt make your fast either though just look at Paul Williams but being huge makes you cumbersome and sometimes slow i.e. Jeff Lacey, Nikolai Valuev and in terms of muscle mass this david kid has three times the muscle mass of them too.
i personally think it looks a tad silly also but thats only my opinion and who am i to say that.
Anyway he must be a good boxer because hes turnin pro without any amateur fights because he hasnt answered my question!!

Yes i WAS much bigger before ok, lol you dont seem to understand that i am not like that anymore, its almost impossible to do such an activity like boxing and at the same time maintain a competitive bodybuilding form.
and hahaha cmon i do have amateur fights but to tell the truth i dont want to post my record in these forums, too many haters and fake fights threads and things like that, but i do have amateur fights, the plans of turning pro are for the future and this are my coaches plan, and of course i am ok with that, because here in mexico amateur boxing , well its not a waste of time but its not so helpful as in other countries, amateur boxing here doesnt have any kind of coverage or support from the media so its no use being in the amateur ranks for long, that why most latin fighters turn pro so young. But as i said thats the plan for next year, that means i am going to be almost 2 years fighting amateur, thats enough for me.
