  • Cross training

how many of ya'll do this on a regular basis? Like playing another sport regularly on top of your boxing sched. and workout sched.

I seriously think some of you should do it. It would no doubt work different muscles and improve your conditioning.

    Who does it?

I take kick boxing lessons and I also play basketball on top of my boxing conditioning and training. Its a great addition to your workout schedule in my opinion.

I build boats and I'm 2 blocks from the bay. What kind of exercise can I do, here?

I recently took up rowing. About 2-3 miles, an hour or so, a couple of times a week. Good for the hands, the biceps, and the back.

I also do archery. Which is also good for the hands and the back, as well as concentration.

I do. Not often enough, though. I build small boats for a living but it seems like I'm never out enjoying them. Here's a pic of my wife's father and me, in a skiff we built:

I train different things. Climbing, swimming (last week I swam outside a 100 feet in cold water. Had to break some ice on the water..) Ninjutsu, rock-throwing, rope-pulling against pitbulls...

              I try to do everything I think I can't and anything that I shouldn't.
Like the challenges, makes me tougher mentally.

                got that right.

i bet alot of the top guys cross train a little bit.

roy jones himself said even he used to play basketball as part of his program. even training for fights, he would play basketball. That's nuts.

oh wow. bet that thing's fun.

i mostly get out on sunnys or optis and just rip around the lake, but this past summer my buddy got a laser. lots of fun. hiking straps for the win.

Not my boat; we charter it every summer. We're thinking about taking it up to Vancouver Island this year, maybe I'll drop in on Kayo.
