i think its important.. its the closest thing to sparring.. but i shadow box as if im literally boxing someone... i dont go through the motions... i move, fast, lost of lateral movement, combinations... keep moving... i think its real important.... dont just stand there practicing slow punch combos

i know what you mean but i do one on one with my coach 3-4 times a week any way and i always pretend that he is my opponent so i hit him hard something you cannot do with shadow boxing
It not too bad if you dont have to do too much of it however At my gym if we do shadow boxing im usually one of the first to complain as we always seem to do it for ages.

hahaha i remember 20 years ago, oh **** i sound old, i didn't know anything and the coach just told me to face the mirror and box, for like 5 rounds. it was always the worst 15 min of boxing class.

Yup, same as me too. I like to use shadow boxing as a spar substitute as I'm not a member of a boxing gym...................yet!
