I sparred after 3 lessons, so I don't really see the big deal. I guess trainers just use dfferent styles

with a good, reliable and extremely cautious sparring partner - it is ok to spar on your first lesson.
At the end of the day, whats the point training for 3 months then realising that you hate the sport and the feeling of the game.
With a ultra- considerate sparring with you - you do ok sparring after your 3rd attempt.
All i'm gonna say in advice to your sparring - be confident and don't be afraid of getting hit -i've said it a few times on here - but you can't get in the water with out getting wet, and you can't get in the ring without getting hit.
Just relax, practise and enjoy.

For me a trainee cannot ask the trainer if he can spar, the trainer is the one that will tell you that you are ready.
I have seen people spar after a week of training, a month of training, well they go flat on their face and stay there for a couple of seconds. Getting knocked out does something to you and it is not cool, be very care full with sparring
