To be more precise, that is where a lot of the power is transfered. The power comes from the legs and hips, twisting the hand transfers that power.

there are many way to punch.

but the fundmental way of position the punch is the same. Because if not it either not effective punch or it is a harmful punch which could break you hands.

Frietas have a funny way of punching his punchs he bend down abit and push the punch from bad of his legs

The topic starter claimed to have anamateur record of 17 - 0 with 17 KOs, and that most people on this forum are "5'5 200 pound computer nerds". So why would a super heavyweight monster (6'5", 280 lbs and 4% body fat were the figures I remember) want tips from a bunch of weaklings like us?

If you want to put weight into a punch you gotta twist them ankles. No i dont mean go out and do your road work in your mamma's high heels just incase your'e kinky like that.

Have your heels off the ground (1inch is fine as long as they're not touching the floor) and twist your body round on your toes. By doing that you're transferring weight from side of your body to the other.

if your punching with the right hand, right foot in back, you can pull your left shoulder back as your right one comes forward, and with your left hand almost imagine ur holding a lever or a handle to help you pull(keep it near your chin, unless you just want to practice the concept to understand the pull and push relationship)
also kind of push off on the back foot off your toes, and slightly drop your weight down. when throwing hooks, pivot the foot that is throwing the punch like your squashing a bug or something. make sure the hips pivot too

Some boxer should learn the Jeet Kune Do straight punch and take advantage of his unlearned opponents, best straight punch on the planet.
