  • What is your Gym like ?

ok, i have some more questions,

what is the state of you guys gyms like, what equiptment dose it have, new, old fasioned, scruffy, modern, what are the trainers like how many becaus ei would like to compare with mine ,
my gym is on top of a nightclub , you walk up some metal stair, very scruffy, old school, has been run for a very very long time by the same gay, hes old and know loads of stuff but old theres also 2 other regualr trainsers who come and other adults that help out. ther is a room with medium sized ring, loads of old punch bags around the sides. poster on walls, a clock timer, speed ball some diffrent types of bags. a bench for people who are watching. theres a small room with hed gaurds and gloves in scruffy golves but lots. a old changing room big size and another changeing room decent size. theres also this pretty much empty room large room with a bench in. and some old equiptment in the corner no oone uses. thats where we parctice tequniqe with partner. looks bit like and unused house converted. we run monday, wednesday, firday 6-7 for juniours and 7-8 for seniors everyone warms up at beginging then we pay then we either do sparring , bag work, tenique. quite repetative. the better people who have passed medicals seem to recive more attention a little bit. basically its a very old quite scruffy gym it may sound worse than it is it is quite rough also. however it has produced good figthers one guy who isnt lised(i will show list) but he has one nationl schoolboy champoinship 3 years runnign. here is the list on this website

please check it out tell me what you think and tell me about your gyms. i have been going to mine for almost 9 monrth now i havnt been given a medical but feel i might be close. tell me what you think ? and about your gyms way it is run ect.

p.s it only costs like 50pence thats like 30cents i think, oh wait its been moved up to 1pound that about 60cents

the link to my one ive only just started been going two weeks im not listed because ive only just started. but two of my mates who are having a medical monday night are having their first fights end of this month so the site would look better then.

my gym is pretty rough as its in a rough area but theres only a few ****s who just get beaten up in sparring anyway so its all good. there is two rooms one like a sports hall where we do circuit training and sparring (with no ring lol) then the back room is where the ring is and theres 3 heavy bags and some weight machines. i sparred for the first time last monday after 1 week of training against my mate who joined at the same time. is this normal? we didnt have unsurance or even a mouthpiece and proper gloves so he only let us throw left hands (both orthodox) to practice defending.

oh and mines free so far doubt itll stay that way

mine is more of a martial arts (kickboxing) gym. kinda small. room for kar-at-tay and such, room with a ring and 'bout 10 heavy bags. 2 decent speed bags (1 tall, 1 short). two diff. uppercut bags, a double-end bag, shelf full 'o gloves.

started sparring within first month there. still am not to full-out. got 1 body spar followed by about 10 jab spars now. but jab spars are how i'll get good (6'5, southpaw).

Mine is kind of small, tight fitting Grant full sized ring, small floor ring in the corner. 6 heavybags, 4 speedbags, 2 double end bags, 2 uppercut bags two treadmills. Small platform for jumping rope, and very small matted area for exercises.

Alot of Salvador Sanchez stuf fon the wall.....

One trainer used to train Ernie Shavers, and more famously Sam Gravanno. Another fought Roger Mayweather.

A few top amateurs in there a lot, i know they train at another spot too.... but Saddam Ali i've seen in there, and Shemuel Pagan, a few other golden glove winners.

            Edgar Santana trains there everyday.

WHEN WE SPAR AFTER WE HAVE PAID THE TRAINER USALLY says to the better people 'gear on' n the worser people 'other room' where they will learn technuqe. after that we put our headgaurs on and gloves and all of us sit on a bench by the ring the trainer then calls people in by name or pointing at you , pairs u with sumone same size u spar, he might send one of you out, bring sumone else in the u out the 2 other people we rotate.
