I dont see why a reply like that was needed.

Obviously the guy doesnt know how to do it, and maybe he cant do it. He is trying to learn how thats the whole point of this thread. You dont know the guy so how can you tell him what he can and cant do?

If everyone had the mindset of "this guy who is top at what he does so that means i cant do it too", then i doubt people who watch and are inspired by top athletes would ever pick up the sports they represent as theyd have it in their head that they could never be as good as their idols.

If Mahummad Ali had a trainer like you who told him not to fight like Sugar Ray Robinson when he was learning how to box its quite possible he wouldnt be called one of the greatest boxers of all time by many people. We might not have even knew who he was.

If Tyson and his trainer werent so heavily influenced by Jack Dempsey would he have been the same fighter?

Long story short dont tell someone to give up before theyve tried, and its not your place to tell someone not to try in the first place.

The Philly shell is all about timing and anticipation. You have to know what your opponent is going to throw before they even know what they are going to throw.

You have to know what combinations they like to throw, and anticipate and move with every punch. Its not really that physically demanding, but you cant just do it, it requires you to sharp, quick thinking, and good at predicting behavior.

If you cant predict what they are going to throw, you will get caught out of position, and you will be ****ed. You also need good balance. Alot of people try it, and they roll with the punch but they are off balance, so then when they block something they stumble.

It really is alot more complex than it looks to implement effectively.

Just to clarify, Mayweather uses a modified Philly Shell. Evander Holyfeild is an example of a true Philly shell, as is Archie Moore.

In the true Philly shell you block the left hook by raising your right elbow up and shoulder up to cover your face, like you are blocking the the sun or wiping sweat of your forehead with your bicep. This is usually accompanied with rolling to the left to diminish the impact of the punch should it land. Watch Archie Moore vs Rocky Marciano.

actually you annoying ****in ****, if you would have read the thread about it he was about 4 feet away and I faked a right jumped in with the hook, I was flyin in when he landed the right. Also everybody knows a straight punch lands before a looping punch you nitpicking mother ****er.

The so called "Philly Shell" style didn't seem to deter Rocky Marciano.

Because obviously, a light heavy with 20 years and 176 fights under his belt come fight time is suppose to be fresh, and dominate Rocky Marciano.
