i think its much more satisfying to make ur opponent MISS a big shot and counter him right back, then smile at him :P

but i know where ur coming from, in the warriors spirit, u jus go to war. inside exchanges, i dont mind getting hit... call me crazy lol, but what dont kill ya only make u stronger... but too many shots can end a boxers career, so if u like that end of the game ur prolly a defensive fighter, foucs on covering up and letting them hit ur gloves n elbows
then shrug it off, he wont be happy he didnt land much... winky wright his ass

but taking a good shot and being fine is always a great feeling. specially when u answer right back..

i like ur warriors spirit. jus dont go get ur ass knocked out :P

the problem comes when you take that punch "thinking" that's their best punch...

then leaving yourself open for an even harder punch where 5min later, you're being picked up off of the canvas onto a stool and asking "did I get knocked out?"

remember, not every punch an opponent throws is their hardest punch...also remember that sometimes you may see that punch he throws and it have less effect than a punch you don't see...

fighters change speeds of their punches to try to set you up...some purposely hit with you weaker shots just to land leather, or to make you think that's all they've got, or to blind you into watching out for that one punch just to surprise you with a different punch you're not expecting...

it is a prideful thing...yes...but don't disregard defense just because you want to prove you can take a punch

I don't care how good a chin is...one may not be able to be KOed with one punch...but there is only so much one's chin can take...and there is only one way to find that out...to be knocked out...fighters with great chins end up suffering most damage because they CAN take a lot and are WILLING to take a lot and DO end up taking a lot...

          and who wants that?

i know that once i start fighting ammy fights that i'm going to be eating punches left and right. but i don't plan on "boxing" to start out, i'm not even going to "stalk." i'm gonna be runnin forward, hells yeh! pressure won't be my game later, but against schmucks starting out that's how you pick up confidence, wins, and, well, confidence.

Like people have said - its nice to know you can take a shot. My first few sparring sessions I practically did nothing but eat punches. It eliminated fear, yea (like people have said), but the downside is that the next day you feel like ass, your head is heavy, and you feel sluggish. This even happened to me in a few sparring sessions. I got in with a few guys up a couple of weight classes and ate some big shots. By round 3 I was still on my feet and moving forward, but there was no chance I was going to be able to catch the guy. So in general - yea its nice to know, but on the other hand, don't bank on your ability to wade through stuff (not saying you do).

haha, this may sound really bad, but.. in all of my athletic abilities I def. feel that my ability to take a punch is probably what will matter more to my career than anything else. i don't plan on being a chuck wepner, i don't want to just put my face out there like a shield or some ****, but i don't want to have to wade through to find my shots. i'm going to throw and get in there and throw some more. joe frazier is my preacher.
