  • the one punch

hey guys, i just started boxing and i'd like to think i have a decent punch but im not sure cuz i haven't fought anyone yet...anyways my question is i've watch it on tv and i go to fights and i was just wondering how easy or hard it is to get a one punch knockout...and i don't mean a few rounds into it, i mean like both guys a energized etc. and one single punch just does it...is it hard or easy...can everyone do it, or is it only certain individuals????

In the Am's 1 punch ko's dont happen too often but it kind of depends on alot of things, like timing, power, how good their chin is and wether they see it. You dont need to be a huge puncher but if catch someone lunging in with a right hand and your able to counter with a left hook and they dont see it theirs a chance they could go down. In the Am's tho dont be going for a 1 punch Ko on account of how amature fights are scored.

I would, just to add that, should I ever have to use my "ring skills" on the street, I am going for the BODY. Specifically, trying to land a heavy left hook to the liver. That is the only punch that I am aware of that will take a man down reliably if it hits clean -- and not bust your hand in the process.

For some reason, it's rarely shown on TV; Vic Mackie and Tony Soprano have used it, but believe me, you don't have to be their size to make it work. Taking a solid, clean hook to the liver is like getting kicked in the groin, only it collapses you instantly instead of creeping up on you over 10-20 seconds the way a God-almighty kick in the balls will. BOOM! Down. He won't be KO'd John Wayne-style, but he won't be a threat anymore. And you'll still have all your knuckles in the right place.

I know of this. I was hitting that 6'7 guy that I was sparring with it the other day,and just delivering crazy body shots. He was making noises from me hitting him,and covering the body alot. It does take alot out of you no matter the size.

If you want a single punch K.O. you better be Training harder than me and Hitting the Heavy BAG longer than Vers.

I've hit guys with shots where They should have crumbled.. also takes 2 or 3 to put someone down for me.. And thats at 165.. I walk around 180.

168 as we speak fight on saturday at 165

in amature boxing there are very rarely knock outs, more stopages than anything.
