dogs pant when they are hot (to bring down their body temperature) and humans sweat (to bring down their body temperature)...
you lose weight based on how many calories you take in and how many you use.
rule of thumb: if you take in MORE calories than you USE in one day you will gain weight.
if you take in LESS calories than you burn you will lose weight.
if you take in just as much as you burn you stay the same.
any type of activity burns a certain amount of calories per day. some use more calories (like working out or playing a sport) and some use less (like sleeping or watching tv).
so you can burn off fat by swimming...even though you dont sweat you still are using calroies for energy.

just wondering cuz my friend doesnt sweat at all and he gains and loses weight like crazy i just wanted to know how it worked

can't get a better answer for sweating than what frank said above. When I work out(weight train) I don't sweat much, but when I hit the bag I start sweating like a fat man in sweats in the middle of july in 90 degree temps.
