Only possible way you could beat him in your next fight is if you happen to be alot stronger than him and scare him with your power, to do that you would have to sitback tighten your defense and look for opportunities to let some bombs go..He throws wide wild hooks work on countering those and maybe you have a thin chance of rocking him and gaining enough of a mental edge on him to win, Also practise working on the inside you did ok on the inside but then would keep your hands too low and get caught..Work on getting inside when he throws the wild hooks and practise getting in and out clean during sparring. You could fight him again in your next fight and try this but i think its a long shot.

I say its a long shot because he is much faster than you, has a very decent jab, is sharper than you and has a better defence than you..
To be honest i cant see you beating him anytime soon, go back to the gym learn more and make it a target to acquire skills good enough to beat him later in your career.
How many fights has the other guy had as he looks really good?
You're not going to acquire the speed, accuracy and defense to beat this guy within the next month..The only way you could beat him in your next fight IMO is if you could pull off what i mentioned above, but it's a long shot.

i will say u look damn good man. if u fight him again, move ur head ALOT and jab ur way inside, cut the ring off and try and get him on the ropes and rip the body up. his hands are low too, if ur fast enough, shoot some right hand leads at him make him be defensive and then feint some rights and try and shoot a left hook to knock him off balance then rush him in a corner and jus rip the body. gotta take his legs away. u look good though. good luck in the rematch.

I like the fight.. nice action.

If us boxers would only realize how CATASTROPHIC the Jab really is....

We'd own all the other sports....

Like the Coach said he's faster on the outside.. jabbing/slipping would be a must I think.. he throws more accurately and moves around good...

impose some power on him..get that jab to be like a jack hammer. you lookn good though.. just think this kid might have you right now... its not impossible for you to win in the rematch though if ya add a few weapons.

Nice job. Sorry you didn't get the win but you did well against a tough opponent. He looked good in this fight but I don't think he was necessarily out of your league or anything. What's your gameplan for the rematch? Also, what weight class are you?

You need to throw a lot more body punches, he can get countered easily in the body, you can catch him while he's breathing and really tire him out, be versatile and punish his body while you're clinching...He can't run away from body punches...

first try to dictate the fight with distance and your jab and movement.. if that dont work you have to outwork him jab in and out headmovent and out work him like u said...

Im telling you, swarming is the most effective style in amature boxing.
I have seen people box the pants off of sombody and still lose because the person they were fighting through punches every second of every round.

You dont get points for ring generalship (******ed) or for dominance and looking good. You get points for connected legal blows.

They dont have to be hard blows, they dont have to be crisp, they dont have to hurt, they just need to connect.

You get 1 point for a body shot, 1 point for a headshot, 1 point for a knockdown, 1 point for a jab, 1 point for a hard right hand.

Every punch counts the same. Scoring a knockdown is the same as landing a jab.

As hard a concept as it is to grasp, Amature boxing isnt really fighting. Its a game. You need to play within the rules and work the scoring system to your advantage.

Its all about how many times you touch them, not how hard you touch them.

Another general rule of thumb for amature boxing is; the judges dont see anything you do when you are against the ropes. For all intents and purposes, you are invisible. They are busy counting the punches of the guy unloading a flurry on you instead of counting your short counter-punches.

Obviously you need to throw actual punches, but its best to keep them light and your work rate high.

This biggest thing I noticed was a lack of a consistent jab or your part, you looked like if you jab went to the body with the left before throwing the hook you would be in a better position to hit dude, to me it looked like your were punching "over" him if you understand what I mean

Man some of you let me down. Look at this:

I'm telling you guys...my handspeed is good. Let me explain some things.

                    1) I had a flu 2 days after that fight. Total body shutdown. I think I was already being affected by that in the fight.

                    2) Also, I weighed in at 143 and for the next fight I am coming in at 145-146 to have more freshness to me.

I know that with timing, a jab, and more head movement...I can beat this guy. My brother knocked him out 3 years ago. He has 20 fights but I can beat him. He is a bit faster than me but mainly I am just easier to hit thanh im and he uses his arm length whereas I like to fight inside. He is smalle than me and he admitted to my trainer that I almost KOd him. I can beat this guy.

Let you down? I think most people in here gave you their honest evaluation of your chances in an immediate rematch, I know I did. Don't ask for people's opinions, if you can't handle them.

Oh, be sure to post the rematch, win or lose. If you lose, expect a few "I told you so's" from people. (that should motivate you to win, I'd think )

P.S. What are we looking at in the video above?
