I find that peeps have a real admiration for you when you tell them you box. I've got people lined up at my office giving me encouragement waiting for my debut bout. I guess people get impressed because boxing is a lifestyle. Its not something you go to a couple of times a week to pass the time. You live and breath the sport, you wake up in the morning to run to improve your stamina, everytime you eat you're thinking about how your diet could be affecting your performance in the ring, everytime you pass a mirror you start shadowboxing and throwing combinations and don't forget the 100's of press ups, sit ups, star jumps and burpees! I find that's what people really get impressed with, the dedication it takes to box.

I've been trying to convince my mom for years to let me box, but she just thinks it'd make me fight even more in school, even though I tell her I'd probably fight less.
But I'm getting a job after football season and signing up for a boxing gym. I'll just tell her it's a regular gym, and suffer the consequences.
