agreed, although asthma doesn't help, back in the X-country days I was one of the best, but the only one on the team better than me had asthma, so it certaintly didn't stop him, and we'd run 10km up mountains and ****, for a mile, asthma shouldn't really stop you from much.

Where in the states do you live? There's gotta be a gym around. I pay 30 bucks canadian for my gym, that's like under 25 US, it's not that bad. It's out on the rough side of town, so we don't have steam rooms and tropical plants in there or some ****, but it gets the job done. Try looking for a place like that.

Aslo, like Vers said, as 'amateur' or whatever, as it may be, just watch a bunch of vidoes man, I know my way around the heavy bag by now, but I still watch a lot of fight vids, even heavy bag vids, it really does help.

Goes to show how much weight lifting and "keeping in shape" does for you when you want to actually compete in something.

I really ****ing hate people who want answers to questions that aren't worth asking IF THEY AREN'T ****ING INTERESTED IN FINDING A GYM. All I hear is this kid whine, whine, whine, complain, complain, complain.
And i really hate people that try to act bad by talkin **** to teenagers, u one big motha****a now, anyways the only reason i lifted my whole life(actually 3 years) is because i wanted to be a bodybuilder, but u cant really make it far w/o taking steroids, so i gave up on it..those where my intentions in the begining, i didnt wanna be able to run a 50 mile marathonin less than 4 hours, i never believed in making myself passout just so i could brag how fast i could run..just as long as i got my bodyfat down i didnt give a ****, but whatever im only 14 so what the **** do i know

If you have tried to be a bodybuilder for 3 years boxing isn't for you. Not to be mean but yes fighting kids five inches shorter you can be slow. The damn fights last maybe 30 seconds. You have to go 3, three minute rounds and with asthma and that speed or lack of you might not be able to go the full 3. The fact that you run a 12 minute mile is just ****ty. Most people can walk a mile in less than 12 minutes. Back to boxing stop worrying about health in Mississippi, how your girlfriend thinks you look, or beating kids in street fights. If your serious find a gym and get some stamina and speed. By the way a marathon is 26 miles.

Well my advice to the thread starter would be to (since you cant afford a gym---which is understood) do what Id do in your situation.

Get a durable 14oz glove, cheap wraps, towel and water bottle---and you are ready to go (you can makeshift a heavy bag (wrap a situp mat around a sturdy tree or get an oil barrell and fill it with sand and hang ---sounds ****** but ur on a budget so just make do)

Save up some $ and get some good boxing instruction videos (I'd either look at the Title brand ones as Freddie Roach (world reknowned trainer) is doing the instruction and look pretty good) or the Rossboxing.com videos)

Run, lift (although not extremely heavy because its counterproductive to boxing)

You should be good to go

Don't take the criticism here too harshly; a gym is where u learn the basics and fundamentals (this is where the videos come in) and where u get pushed to ur limits --- you build on the basics with combos, head movement, ring footwork, breaking, bobing/weaving, slipping and parrying which is why alot of people were telling u to join a gym.

Stay dedicated but remember u need to learn to walk before you can run.

          Good luck.

Running on the treadmill doesn't mean anything. Go run outside and see what that's like.

Age doesn't determine who I "act bad towards", but because you brought up the topic, I'm 18.
