The problem with sparring without headgear is that you tend to not spar as hard. If you do go hard without headgear, then you can't spar as often, just common sense.

We spar with headgear but as a change up we spar with no headgear probably once a fortnight or once every 3 weeks.

We usually did light sparring with no headgear. Obviously, serious sparring should be done with headgear.

You spar with no headgear now but once one of you ends up with a cut or a nasty swell above one of your eyes you will resort to the tradition and Usa Boxing regulation of wearing headgear.

I do wonder, is your gym registered with usa boxing.

Sparring without headgear does not make one solid or even suggest it. What it does mean is that you are going to sustain undo damage while practicing and learning your art. Save it for the pros, boxing without headgear. Its really not too bad getting smacked with 16oz gloves and no headgear but why take the risk of cuts and such. You could train your ass off for 3 or 5 months for a bout coming up and then have it all scratched because you sustained a cut with no headgear in training. When your doing it for a living you will understand more when you cant get that check....................Rockin'

I would tell my coach to go "F" himself if he told me to spar without headgear. I had one crazy kamikaze of a coach, he'd throw me at anyone and tell me to kick their ass, yet he never once asked me to do it without headgear...........Rockin'

when I was green, I used to think sparring with no head gear ment I was tough. Then the years go by and you notice that it'sot so smart afterall. Your trainer must not care about his fighters if he lets that go. I simple accidentle head but will cause a cut or swealing and then you won't be able to fight amateur or professional untill it heals. The main reason for headgears os to prevent cuts. Not to prevent being knocked out.

                  Tell your trainer this
