    with only 2 to 3 pounds, u wont get any downward force, unless ur very weak, punching with 10 pounders u may get some downward force, but not even close with 2 or 3 pound hand weights.

      you will get downward force, it doesnt matter on the weight, but there will be more force going down than pushing against your punches

        I completly agree with the post made by J. I use weighted bag gloves (about 1.5 lbs inside 12 oz gloves) when I shadow box and have seen a great improvemen in my hand speed.

        But perfecting your footwork / technique will put some real speed on your punches.

          Would u reconmend me useing a elastic tube behind my back and grab the handles and punch like the everlast jab thing so it makes my punches a little faster?

            thats ok too i think thats more for explosive training but that equates to speed so go for it!
