Osteoporosis is rare in Cinina and the average life span was only 4 years shorter despite the fact that most Chinese do not have access to a high level of medical care.

Everybody in this forum is cackling about the latest protein potion, yet there isn't a shred of evidence that any of this junk is beneficial.
you dont think that may have to do with more than just the protein amount?

I guess I hear ya potatoes, but the truth is, many hardworking amateur athletes do not get enough protein in their diets.

Whatever about the american hogwash. Let me tell you one thing i know for sure. To repair damaged muscle tissue you need protein. Look at bodybuilders you think they dont look like malnourished chinese for a reason. They continually break down muscle tissue and eat lots of protein for repair. I am not saying a garganuatuan stature is needed for boxing whatsoever but eat your protein along with the rest of your veges etc... Anyone saying a post workout protein shake is wasting time is wasting my time.

Proteins over-rated. The thing is that unless you're working out like you're on steroids and want to get mr. universe size. You really don't need to have as much protein in you as they advertise. Protein turns into fat anyways when not worked out. It's a waste if you don't constantly workout

Joe Frazier in his book Box Like The Pros claims that boxers don't need any more protein than anybody else. That is the way he trained like so many thousands of boxers before him. Boxers aren't bodybuilders, consequently they don't need the same kind of diet.

Edison Miranda couldn't make weight for a reason. Could it have been too many protein shakes?

It would have been too many anything, fruitcups, protein shakes, whatever. Frazier is a great, but not exactly a scientist. Trust me, any athlete needs more protein than a normal joe. To say otherwise is utterly ridiculous.
