I think theres a 147 or 149 cutoff for amateurs which i could easily make with minimal cutting or I could probably lose a few more pounds and then try to cut 5-7 of water to make the next step down. Which would you recommend for one of your guys?

i'd stay close to my natural weight. when i was an amateur i was walking around very close to my fighting weight, i wouldn't go down too far. it doesn't seem worth it, i'd rather feel stronger than have to drain down too much, i'd rather be a strong 168 than a weak 160. i can't think or react properly when i'm dehydrated. i'd say, make sure you're only cutting like 5 or so percent of your body weight.

I've lost 18 pounds in almost 4 weeks before.. but it was a strict diet I was on.

Also.. you keep quite a bit of the water weight off if you eat before training and don't go crazy on the liquids after. In the morning you will be very happy when you weight yourself. But this was also with diet like the one im on now.
