How much weight do you cut?

For those of you who have had fights, how much weight do you usually cut right before?

Also, when do they usually do weigh-ins for amateur matches, golden gloves, etc?

iv cut down from 210 to 165 in 3 1/2 to 4 months for a fight. i would not recommend it as i felt weak and lost the fight. i would not try to cut to much wait to fast.

I was thinking more in terms of within a few weeks of the fight. I'm trying to figure out what weight i should try to stay around so that I can cut just enough to make the next division down. I want to be as big as i can in my division.

Depends on how big you are, and how much fat you have. Obviously the more weight, the more lbs. you can take off (10lbs is 10% off for a 100 lbs kid, and only 5% off for a 200 lbs guy).

My fighters (152 and down) lose about 5-10 lbs in the last month before a tournament. 3-4 lbs. in the last 24 hours.

I cut like 5 pounds by dieting and the last 3 the night before. The weigh-ins are in the morning of the fight, so you only have like 4 hours to rehydrate.

That makes sense. Are the weight divisions the same internationally? I'm around 150, 5'9", with little fat. I think theres a 147 or 149 cutoff for amateurs which i could easily make with minimal cutting or I could probably lose a few more pounds and then try to cut 5-7 of water to make the next step down. Which would you recommend for one of your guys?
